Ten Book Series Collecting Dust on My TBR
Has anyone else noticed the amount of book series that are being published any more? Has that always been the case? Book series instead of stand alone books?
In high school, most of us are assigned classics to read... and I don't remember there being too many series... maybe series don't tend to make it to classic stature... hmmm...
There are many drawbacks to series... they are long... if you buy books, they get expensive...
But, there are so many positives too. Readers tend to get more attached to the characters as we travel along with them in greater detail. The worlds tend to be more developed, which makes the series all that more exciting... I could go on... but I'll stop.
I think overall, I'm a big fan of well written series... I just often fear the time commitment and push them down on my TBR lists. Then of course once I finally pick up book one, I tend to binge read the entire series... which causes another issue... either author burn out for a bit, or a horrible book hangover because I don't want it to be over!
For today's Top 10 Tuesday, I have put together a list of some of book series I have yet to start...
10 Book Series I Still Need to Read
- Game of Thrones: Yep - I officially have the books, I have agreed to start reading them before July 4th (not read them all... just start...) and yet I haven't... I hear the clock ticking...
- The Mortal Instruments: This is another series that sits on my bookshelf and mocks me... I have no idea when I'll actually start...
- The Infernal Devices: Well you know if I haven't read The Mortal Instruments....or The Dark Artifices: Might as well include these... and for that matter I haven't read any of the Bane Chronicles either... I haven't read a single Clare book because the world is so huge and I'm afraid it will suck me in and never let me go.
- Snow Like Ashes: I have officially checked this book out of the library four times now to start the series.... and yet... here it is on my TBR
- Monsters of Verity: I have This Savage Song, but I haven't read it yet... and now Our Dark Duet is out... well I don't know what to say
- Replica: Alright, so I wanted to love her Delirium series... in fact I did, until the very end, which is why these are still on my TBR
- Inkworld: I'm not sure about these, but a lovely bookstagram friend recommended them... so...
- House of Night: Alright, alright, these aren't really my kind of books... but at total of four different book friends think I would like them... so they are at least on my TBR...
- Dividing Eden: These books are on my TBR simply because I think the cover look cool
- The Iron Fey: Another series that was recommended to me by a bookstagrammer.... guys I'm way very susceptible to bookish people's recommendations.... that is what this list has taught me!

So, here's how bad I am. I've only heard of the first two series on your list. I have no plans to read the first one because I don't really want to read all the sex scenes.
ReplyDeleteAnd I got bored with the Immortal Instruments... *hides face*
That is totally fair... I have been told the books aren't as full of them as the show is... we will see. And I'm so torn with the immortal instruments... so you know it remains on this list ;)
DeleteInfernal Devices, they are just collecting dust on my bookshelf.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya Elena - they laugh at me every time someone on Bookstagram mentions them...
